Digitize and scan your old photos, negatives and slides – easily and cost effectively
If you are like me, you have boxes and boxes of (mostly unorganized) old paper photos and negatives that are sitting on a closet shelf. If you are also like me, your best intentions regarding organizing/digitizing them reside on “Someday Isle”, as in “Someday I’ll organize and digitize these things and bring them back to life.” I know you are out there because I’ve heard from many of you!
Well, your ship to Someday Isle has just come in, as we now have a solution to this problem.
We are very happy to report that we have partnered with ScanCafe, the leader in high quality, cost-effective digitizing services. All you have to do is pack up your photos, negatives and/or slides and ship them to ScanCafe. They do the rest, including scanning and cleaning up the images.
And to kick off this partnership, we are offering a 10% discount through Jan 2009. Just use use promotion code SNAPZ10 at checkout. So visit ScanCafe now.
The process is simple and easy.
1. Just pack up your old photos, negatives and slides and ship them to Scan Cafe via the UPS packing slip on the site. Lots of help here on how best to do this. (You do not pay for all that you ship, only the ones you select (see step 3 below), as long as you select a minimum of at least 50% of what you ship).
2. ScanCafe scans all of your photos, negatives and slides at high resolution (photos at 600 dpi and negatives and slides at 3000 dpi). And they correct colors, crop and rotate and remove dust and scratches too.
3. They contact you with an email with a link to a gallery of your scanned items. You select the ones you want and delete the ones you don’t want. You only pay for those you want. Pricing per selected item (as of 12/5/2008) is as follows: $0.27 per photo, $0.24 per negative and $0.29 per slide. Check site for latest pricing.
4. Once you’ve selected your items, they burn them onto a cd, and they mail the CD with all of your originals back to you. If you like, once you get the CD, you can load the images on to LifeSnapz. The digital images are also available on their site.
5. That’s it. From start to finish, the entire turnaround time is 3 – 4 weeks (not including procrastination time).

You’ll be happy you did.
